Layer 3 DIN-Rail Industrial Managed Full Gigabit Switches For Optimum Network Performance

California, U.S.A., May 2020 – Ethernet Direct Corporation, a professional and primary provider of industrial networking and communication solutions launches LAYER 3 DIN-Rail Industrial Managed Full Gigabit switch series to satisfy the needs for optimum network performance.

Ethernet Direct introduces a complete portfolio of Layer 3 DIN-Rail enclosure Industrial managed gigabit switches to cater different port density requirements. DIN-Rail mounting saves time and space by simple snapping or sliding the switches on the rail. All Ethernet Direct Layer 3 switches support full Gigabit connectivity with uplink port of 1G or 10G via SFP fiber ports. Furthermore, these layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switches support many protocols and standards.

What Layer 3 Features are supported in the DIN-Rail switches?

Ethernet Direct DIN-Rail Layer 3 switches combine switch mechanisms at Layer 2 level and routing at Layer 3 level to achieve optimum network connections in applications such as integrating machines, production systems or sub-networks. Feature-rich layer 3 features such as Static Routing, RIP v1/v2, OSPFv2 and VRRP satisfy the requirements in majority of applications. Static routing feature is a complement of dynamic routing to enable a seamless failsafe network redundancy. Deploying layer 3 network allows the system administrator or network administrator to connect multiple sub-networks and being able to design complex networks by means of network segmentation. This is achieved by using the VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). While RIP (Routing Information Protocol) acts as the interior or inter-domain routing protocol within the system. RIP v2 supports authentication, multicasting and ability to carry subnet information. Another layer 3 feature is the OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) protocol used to distribute IP routing information in the IP network. In OSPF, the routers exchange topology information with the nearest neighbors and OSPF calculates the shortest route to a destination through the network. It provides fast convergence and scalable network support especially beneficial in large networks.
